Last March I blogged about my early impressions of my then recently purchased Timex Easy Reader wristwatch. That blog post has gone on to become one of my most widely read entries in all of the years I’ve been blogging, and I wanted to give an update.
In that last blog entry I mentioned that Lady Jessica and I had matching his and hers Easy Readers. Today I’m still wearing mine, but she isn’t. What happened was that a few weeks into wearing these watches we both came down with uncomfortable rashes and we both stopped wearing them. I put mine in a drawer for weeks if not months and she actually went out and bought a more comfortable watch.
We were both wearing them 24/7, and for me at least that seemed to be what was causing the rash. When I began wearing my Easy Reader again I started taking it off at night, and the rash has not returned. For Lady Jessica, taking a watch off at night is a deal breaker.
Since I’ve gone back to wearing my Easy Reader I continue to love it. I still love its simple elegance and its easy readability. I’ve banged it into hard things a time or two and it’s held up remarkably well. It has maybe one minor scuff that you have to look very closely to even notice.
It remains the only watch I wear, but it’s about to have company. Today I ordered a Timex Weekender, which I’ve had my eye on for some time. Hopefully soon you’ll be able to read my impressions of it!
